Ever since Tuesday's announcement that DC will be rebooting its entire universe once Flashpoint comes to an end this August, the interwebs have been awash in anger and speculation. Today, DC released some more information on some of those 52 #1 issues they'll be releasing - namely, the creative teams. Without further ado...
Geoff Johns and Jim Lee will be busting out Justice League #1, complete with Johns' new pet character Cyborg bumped up from Titan stalwart to League member.
Then, in interesting news, 100 Bullets creator Brian Azzarello teams up with Cliff Chiang to bring us Wonder Woman #1.
Geoff Johns will also be taking on Arthur Curry with his Green Lantern collaborator Ivan Reis in Aquaman #1.
After working with Johns on the art for the Flash, Francis Manapaul will be sharing scripting and art duties with Brian Buccellato on The Flash #1.
Then we've got Oliver Queen, an orphan and billionaire playboy, in Green Arrow #1 from JT Krul and Dan Jurgens.
Now we get to the origins that will likely get the bulk of the rebooting. For example, Ethan Van Sciver and Gail Simone are teaming up for The Fury of Firestorm #1 with artist Yildiray Cinar. Jason Rusch and Ronnie Raymond are now high school students who get caught up in this weird Firestorm bond they can't control.
Then there's Hawkman. Oh, Hawkman. You of the multiple convoluted incarnations varying between alien and Egyptian eternal. Well, now comes The Savage Hawkman #1 by Tony Daniel and Philip Tan, where Carter Hall is now an archaeologist who specializes in alien ruins! Of course!
Now, there's a fancy blue costume for Michael Holt in Mr. Terrific #1, from Eric Wallace and Roger Robinson. It seems Mr. T is now the world's third-smartest man, as well as it's "most eligible bachelor." Will he retain the tragedy of his lost wife? More importantly, will the Justice Society even exist in this new DC world? Even more importantly, why is his mouth red? Is that a ginger van dyke he's sporting? And are "Fair Play" tattoos really cooler than a Fair Play jacket?
We may not know if the JSA is around, but we are going to have the JLI. Dan Jurgens will be scripting Justice League International #1 alongside Aaron Lopresti. Looks like August General in Iron from The Great Ten will be on board. Will Ted Kord be back in the fold? And is that Donna Troy? What's the state of the Titans and legacy characters in general in these new, younger, leaner times? Wait and see, apparently.
We shan't forget Nathaniel Adam, either. Captain Atom #1, from JT Krul and Freddie Williams, gives us a hero who is charged with nuclear energy and molecular powers that make him godlike, but he might lose his humanity in the process.
And last but not least, we've got DC Universe Presents, an anthology series that will likely be handy in giving us the revamped origins of the zillions of DC characters not popular enough for their own books. The first issue gives us a Deadman story from Paul Jenkins and Bernard Chang.
Those are the details for now. Still panicked? Still furious? Potentially intrigued? Let us know!
