If the Sentry has really been around since the very beginning, but his existence has been wiped from the minds of everyone on earth, what does the history of Marvel really look like? |
Here’s hoping that Marvels new
‘1985’ series will address that, but until then we’ll have to suffice with a quick snippet contained in the pages of The Mighty Avengers 10. A confrontation with Dr. Doom left Iron Man, the Sentry and Doom himself stuck in the past. The cool thing is that the Sentry saw himself in the past and, of course, freaked. The whole episode reaffirmed what a cool idea the Sentry is.
Unfortunately this whole thing seems like filler until Secret Invasion begins in April. The good news is there is worse filler out there, so a lot of fun can be had reading both issue’s 9 and 10 of the series. Brian Michael Bendis brings Dr. Doom into the fold at a great time considering that Latveria is supposed to factor into this some how.
It feels like Mark Bagley is having a blast drawing all the fantastic battles that can be seen in the last two issues, he was a perfect pick to do the honors during this stretch of the run. His rendition of Iron Man isn’t my favorite but that’s ok, he nails just about everything else, especially the last few pages of the issue, his handling of Ms. Marvel really sells the books finish.
Thanks to both Bagley and Bendis we’ll be able to say that Mighty Avengers was a wild ride if nothing else. The team has seen a lot of action in less than a year, and has been one of Marvels more exciting books. They’ve done a great job of setting up Secret Invasion thus far, so hold on a little longer because the pay off is just weeks away.
