There comes a time when your crib at home requires more than that cheap DVD player you picked up on sale at Wal-Mart. When you're ready to upgrade, niche consumer electronics company Oppo Digital has a new
flagship player you might want to consider: the DV-983H. |
Oppo's DV-983H, while it won't play Blu-ray Discs, can still do a hell of lot for its nearly $400 price tag. It can take typical DVD video and "upconvert" it to 1080p HD resolution so you can enjoy a much more realistic picture. HDMI output allows you to carry this video and also digital audio to any HDMI-equipped television or A/V receiver so you can complete the HD entertainment loop. The HD picture is further enhanced by special built-in video processing technologies.
You will, of course, find typical DVD player features on the DV-983H like aspect ratio conversion and picture zooming. Audio support lets you enjoy 7.1 surround sound in a variety of formats like Dolby Digital Surround EX and DTS. Other disc formats, like Super Audio CD, DVD-Audio, HDCD and regular CDs are supported on the audio side as well in case you
want to turn your DVD player into a jukebox.
A few other interesting features which round out the DV-983H include Kodak Picture CD support for on-screen photo slideshows and USB 2.0 compatibility so you can plug in a USB flash drive to enjoy music, video or photos which are stored on it through the DVD player. The DV-983H is available now.
