Star Wars fans that have eagerly anticipated the next chapter in the epic story had better be near a TV Thursday night when the new Star Wars: The Clone Wars trailer airs across five networks. The animated film will fill in the gap between Episode’s 2 and 3, where the Jedi lead an army of clones against the separatists.
The Turner family of channels will all air the 2 minute trailer simultaneously at 7:58 pm. The channels are Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, CNN, and of course Boomerang. That means that you have options and even the NBA playoffs isn’t a good enough excuse to miss this great debut.
This event will mark the first time that the cable network has ever shown a trailer across all its channels. Turner is setting the table for the theatrical release set for August 15, 2008 (get your camping gear out now fan boy!) which makes sense considering that this is only the beginning for Clone Wars.
The Clone Wars movie will tie directly into a series of the same name that is set to debut in the fall. There is a lot riding on the success of the film in order to bolster the audience for the series, as if Star Wars fans need motivation. Lucasfilm is naturally very excited about this new chapter in Star Wars lore, “By combining the power of the Turner Networks and the power of the Force, we’re able to create a fantastic event for Star Wars fans of all ages,” said Howard Roffman, vice president of Lucasfilm. “We’re incredibly proud of The Clone Wars, and eager to be able to showcase it for the first time in such an exciting way.”
Make sure that you’re by a TV Thursday May 8, 2008
