Last weekend saw Shrek Forever After take the top spot at the box office with a $70 million haul, well behind the $121 million Shrek the Third earned just a couple of years ago. Apparently, 3-D doesn’t make everything better. Meanwhile, MacGruber completely bombed, earning, well I don’t even want to say. It’s too embarrassing. Let’s just say that Just Wright made more money, and I think that movie is already on cable. |
Here are the challengers this week:

Sex and the City 2 is thankfully not in 3-D. The movie, which came out on Thursday, is already getting blasted by critics. Think it will matter? Abso-f**king-lutely not. The movie could be a 4 ½ hour opus about Miranda getting a pap-smear and it would still make trillions.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. It’s a little soon to start remaking the Mummy movies, isn’t it? Still, I’m betting this movie settles for second place, which could spare us all from another god-awful franchise. The previews for this make me miss Brendan Fraser. Whatever happened to that guy anyway?
