In the 1980’s the R rated comedy was dominated by comedians like Eddie Murphy and Bill Murray. In the 1990’s the genre was resuscitated by director Kevin Smith. In this decade the R rated comedy is in the hands of comedian Will Ferrell and the new king of the R rated comedy, director Judd Apatow.

With the long held wisdom that only PG-13 comedies could attract wide audiences and deliver big box office returns quickly fading, movies like Sean Anders’ Sex Drive are poised to attract a new generation of comedy fans.

Here is CraveOnline’s list of The Best R Rated Comedies of the last ten years, part 2.

Wedding Crashers 2005

Wedding Crashers
is the story of two friends and divorce mediators who crash weddings to meet women. The film also starred Rachael McAdams (The Notebook), Isla Fisher (Hot Rod) and the cougar- riffic, Jane Seymour (Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman).  The film was a success and stars, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson were the fuel that pushed Wedding Crashers to over 200 million at the box office.

40 year old virgin 2005

40 Year Old Virgin is the offbeat story of Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) a nerdy social misfit who has completely given up on relationships and sex. The film follows his co-workers ridiculously insane attempts to get him laid which eventually lead him to a real relationship with a single mother, Trish Piedmont (Catherine Keener).  The film was a breakout success and paved the way for more films from Director Judd Apatow, Producer/co-star Seth Rogen and stars Steve Carell and Romany Malco.

Borat 2006

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan is the faux documentary by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen and directed by former Seinfeld writer, Larry Charles. The film is a satire that mixes bizarre interviews by the Kazakh Journalist Borat (Cohen), mixed with some jackass horseplay with the documentary’s faux producer Azamat Bagatov (Ken Davitian).

Superbad 2007

The familiar theme of teens trying to get laid has rarely been this raunchy or funny than in Superbad. Jonah Hill and Michael Cera star as two best friends in their last two weeks of High School looking to get some alcohol for a big party. They have one problem, their friend Fogel has just scored the lamest fake id (McLovin) ever.  The film went on to be one of the most successful high school comedies ever.

Tropic Thunder 2008

Tropic Thunder is a very funny multi layered satire that pokes fun at Vietnam films, documentaries and Hollywood in general. Written, directed and starring Ben Stiller the film also stars Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. a trio of self absorbed movie stars working on a big budget Vietnam epic that is spiraling out of control. Look for Tom Cruise’ unpublicized role as the vicious Hip-Hop loving studio head, Les Grossman.
