Crave Online: What got you interested in this hosting gig?
Tracy Morgan: Well, I'm a fan of Scare Tactics and I love the show. I was surprised when they asked me to do it. I was really happy to do it. I was excited. Besides that, I'm a big fan, long-time fan of the Twilight Zone so this is my rendition of Rod Sterling. I got to be Rod Sterling. So I'm just excited to do it.
Crave Online: If Twilight Zone was a big influence on you, what other shows influenced you growing up?
Tracy Morgan: As far as comedy, the Honeymooners, Lucille Ball, the Carol Burnett Show, Saturday Night Live, all those was there, the same things that the rest of America saw. I love television.
Crave Online: What type of scare tactics would work on you?
Tracy Morgan: Oh man. If you sent the IRS to my house for no reason I think I would be pretty scared, something like that.
Crave Online: What's the best prank that you ever witnessed?
Tracy Morgan: The best prank I ever witnessed was with Scare Tactics, I loved the wood chip episode. I think that was awesome. I mean, to see these people and they're just like genuinely scared. That is hilarious. I guess it's because it's not happening to me.
Crave Online: Why was the wood chip your favorite?
Tracy Morgan: Because that guy, he does it, that's one that's unsuspecting and it's and he's like ready to work hard and all of a sudden, all of this stuff erupts and you could see his hand shaking. I mean, this guy, you cannot take that. This guy is really shaking and scared. Then to see the reaction after he knows he's on Scare Tactics. It's like he really is frustrated. I know because I was there when I got punk'd. Ashton Kutcher punk'd me and I felt the same way when I found out I was punk'd. I was on Punk'd and it was great. So when people hear you are on Scare Tactics, it’s an odd minute. Then it's like they go crazy. So that's fun to watch.
Crave Online: Do you take part in any of the planning or any of the scares.
Tracy Morgan: Oh, no. No, I'm not good at that stuff. Those guys are great at what they do and I just sit. I just really just walk the piece to the audience and set them up, host it, try to bring some personality to the hosting area and just set up the whole scene. And make that fun and help the people get ready for the Scare Tactic, the actual scene.
Crave Online: Have you thought about trying to prank any of your celebrity friends?
Tracy Morgan: I couldn't tell you what anybody else is thinking about. I could just say I hope they are.
Crave Online: Is it hard to keep a straight face when you're watching people freak out?
Tracy Morgan: No, I have fun. We have a lot of fun when we're rolling and when we're taping. We have a lot of fun. There's a lot of good vibes and good energy on the set.
Crave Online: Has anybody ever gotten you good, like someone in your family?
Tracy Morgan: No, they don't want to prank the breadwinner. So they pretty much leave me alone. I'm quite sure I'm going to have a lot of people pulling pranks now when Scare Tactics starts to roll.
Crave Online: What's your biggest fear?
Tracy Morgan: The IRS. That's it. The IRS knocking on my door. Somebody made a mistake. Somebody made a mistake. My name is not Wesley Snipes.
Crave Online: Did you ever play any scary characters on SNL?
Tracy Morgan: No. I mean, that was all comedy so you weren't in a business at SNL of scaring. You want laughter when you're there. You don't want scare and fright and all that. So I've never done that. I had to play a few women. That was scary. I had to put some panty hose on a few times. When a guy is in panty hose, that is scary. Here, put this lipstick on. Welcome to Saturday Night Live.
Crave Online: What are your upcoming movies G-Force and Deep in the Valley?
Tracy Morgan: They're awesome movies. G-Force is a Jerry Bruckheimer project that I've been working on for about the last year. It's going to be great. I can't wait until it comes out.
Crave Online: What is it and what do you play?
Tracy Morgan: Well, it's an animated movie and I play the voice of a hamster. They're like a task force and they go undercover, covert undercover, gerbils and stuff like that. There's a big cast, Nicolas Cage and all those people. I just played one of those characters, a hamster. It's like a James Bond type and it's really funny. Very good.
Crave Online: You're not playing a hamster who goes where no man has gone before, are you?
Tracy Morgan: No. Absolutely not.
Crave Online: And Deep in the Valley?
Tracy Morgan: Deep in the Valley is going to be a cult classic. It's a really adult movie. It's funny. It's along the lines of Totally Awesome and all those things. I haven't seen it yet, but the part that I did was really funny. It had a couple porn stars in it. It was really funny. It gives me a chance to get away from PG for a little while.
Crave Online: What do you play in that?
Tracy Morgan: Well, it's hard to explain the character that I play. It's like a futuristic club owner. He's a really funny guy. Fu Manchu mustache and everything. Picture me with a Fu Manchu mustache.
