In light of the Christmas season, we've opted to forego the long running This Month in Covers feature that we normally run here every month at CraveOnline Comics, and instead reflect upon some of the more magical moments of comic book cover art. By that, I mean the yearly appearance of jolly ol' St. Nick on various mainstream comic books. Some are funny, some are delightful, but oddly, most are f*cking brutal.
You'll notice an odd comparison between the Kris Kringle of the Golden Age and that of the modern era. Mostly, the Golden Age Santa is often joyous and delivering presents with the help of Superman or Captain Marvel, whereas the modern era he's being beaten to death, committing crimes (Ho-ho-HOMICIDE), or being murdered.
Happy Christmas, everyone!
