Image Comics Launch Digital App

Image gets its own standalone comics app for iOS.

The latest major comic book publisher to jump aboard the digital revolution, Image Comics announced today a partnership with the premier digital comic platform comiXology. While many Image books have previously been available on comiXology's own app, the announcement of Image's very own app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch offers the publisher "a direct line to digital distribution".

"With the launch of the Image Comics app, we have an opportunity to provide our creators with the digital support that, for many of them, was unattainable before. comiXology has established a very impressive track record of bringing independent content into the digital world. Today represents a milestone in our growth as a company and enables us to increase the availability of the fantastic titles we publish." said Image Publisher Eric Stephenson.

Our partnership with Image is indicative of our shared vision to help independent creators thrive in the traditional print community as well as the explosive digital marketplace," adds David Steinberger, CEO of comiXology. "The demand for creator-owned content is at an all time high, and we are thrilled to be able to provide fans with what they want. We're lucky now to work directly with Image and to offer the creators a clear path to the digital market."

Previously available titles include Battle Pope, Chew, Savage Dragon, and Youngblood, but with the launch of the app -- now available in Apple's App Store -- we can expect a massive push in Image's digital content. All individual issues will debut at a price of $1.99, in addition to some free exclusive content, sample issues, and previews.
