It seems, that Marvel's teaser for Daredevil: The End that we posted last week wasn't metaphoric after all. Announced via their November solicitations, Marvel Comics revealed today that Andy Diggle's run on the long running Daredevil monthly comic book will come to an end completely. The book is canceled. Granted, it's safe to assume that this cancellation spins out of the storyline currently running in the book and Shadowland, which has been documenting Daredevil's self destruction. As these things often go, I imagine that Marvel will bounce back in no time with the announcement of a relaunch (much like they just did with the Avengers titles) or something of that ilk.

It's interesting to note that it was only 12 issues ago that Marvel reverted the Daredevil series back to its original number with issue #500. To some, this is a slap in the face to fans who like to celebrate "anniversary issues", but as longtime comic book fans we've gotten used to Marvel thinking in the here and now rather than the long term. I'll bide my time and await the conclusion of the Shadowland story before making any snap judgements, but canceling the series outright is a shame (as opposed to putting it on a few months of hiatus for storyline purposes, a la Detective Comics and Batman when Bruce Wayne "died"), especially for those fans who just jumped on board for the Shadowland event.
Stay tuned to CraveOnline for anything and everything Shadowland!
