In a teaser image released by Marvel Comics earlier today, one could presume that the publisher has big things in store for our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that there will be a series of upcoming images connecting the puzzle pieces, all leading to a hint of what Marvel has in store for ol' Webhead in 2010.
My disdain for the Spider-Man universe post-"Brand New Day" is not a secret, and neither is my concern for pumping out Amazing Spider-Man three times a month with no cohesive creative teams, storylines, or long lasting effects. My hope is that this teaser is more than just a sneak peek at an "event" within Spidey's world, but rather quite literally a coming together of the many pieces of Spider-Man's world to form a cohesive picture.
And I have to say, the last time Spider-Man was truly interesting to me was during Civil War, and the reemergence of the Iron Spider costume tingles my Spider Sense, if only just a bit. Stay tuned to CraveOnline for future teases from the House of Ideas.
On December 29, Marvel updated their teaser with the following image:
