Lobo might not be the most well known character in the DC stable but younger fans of the Superman animated series might be familiar with the anti-hero. It looks like DC is not ready to be outdone by the news that Disney and Marvel have joined, and have picked up none other than Guy Ritchie to direct the film about the character; this is according to Geeks of Doom.

Ritchie brings immediate legitimacy to a character that is supposed to be DC’s answer to characters like Wolverine. Currently Ritchie is wrapping things up on Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr., after that it looks like Lobo will be his next project.

Lobo is a story of an intergalactic bounty hunter that is stronger than Superman and as tough as Batman. Lobo has had his own publication in the past, and has made guest appearances in countless books over the years. His origin is intentionally very dark as Lobo killed his entire race off so that he would be the only one, no word yet on a script or actors set to be involved.
