Even with a recession on there are a few job opportunities floating around for you comic fans out there. To be fair not all of these jobs pay anything and some might be taken by press time. This small hiring spurt can be seen as good news for fans who might be worried about the future of some of their favorite publishers.
The first company that’s hiring is Dark Horse Comics, according to GearLive.com the home of some of the best indie comics in the world is looking for a Comic Retail Manager, a job that will work in conjunction with Diamond Distributors to service retailers in the world wide market. The job offers a full time salary plus benefits. It looks like they’re still taking resumes so get yours in there.
On the unpaid side of things Archaia Comics is looking for a summer intern. That job comes with an assortment of tasks that will again pay you no money, but you do get free comics! This job might already be filled but you never know.
Wildstorm is looking for an assistant editor to look over their books. I personally think that they desperately need you (yes you) a loyal Crave reader who can turn that company around. Actually they have a healthy selection of titles across the board and hopefully will do bigger and better things going forward, here’s hoping that you can make a difference.
Marvel Comics is in need of an executive, a VP to be exact (guess that eliminates me). The position is VP of Custom Solutions. If you don’t know exactly what that is then this job is probably not for you, but if deriving revenue for the Marvel Custom Solutions Group sounds like something you can do, then by all means have at it.
If these jobs don’t work for ya then you can always head down to the San Diego Comic Con with your portfolio and battle it out with the masses for a shot.
