The Amazing Spider-Man 582
Dan Slott and Mike McKone have teamed up for a story called Firewalled. It seems that the rumors of Harry Osborn’s death have been greatly exaggerated, now it’s up to Spidey to save him from the Molten Man so that he can get some answers. The book is really good on a lot of levels. I’ve become a Mike McKone fan over the years and he really captures the wall crawler well in this issue.
Final Analysis: Definitely worth your hard earned dollars.
Black Lightning: Year One #1
At last, a complete retelling of the origin of Black Lightning. The first issue lays a lot of ground work for future issues. The art work is great and really shows off Jefferson Peirce as a hero. Black Lightning is a complex character who has come into prominence recently, this series should further cement his roll as one of DC’s heavy hitters.
Final Analysis: Be on the ground floor of this landmark limited series.
The Invincible Iron Man #9
Matt Fraction has upped the ante tremendously with this Dark Reign tie in. If you’re not reading Iron Man then now is certainly the time to start. Tony Stark is going to drastic measures to keep important information out of the hands of Norman Osborn, while Osborn is determined to find Stark and force him to give up his secrets. If Norman wins then the whole world could be in peril, and things just don’t look good for the home team. Follow one of Crave Online’s picks for Hero of 2008 in his own adventure.
Final Analysis: The stakes have never been higher for Iron Man, this is a must read.
Faces of Evil: Solomon Grundy one shot
I’ve always seen Grundy as DC’s villainous version of the Hulk. This seems to be reinforced in this faces of evil one shot. DC is giving a lot of characters the Faces of Evil treatment, with Grundy being important to the evnts that are still to come. My question is will we get smart Grundy or dumb Grundy? According to this first issue we’re going to get something entirely different. This one shot was a great lead in to the Solomon Grundy limited series arriving soon.
Final Analysis: Part of the Faces of Evil campaign, this book will compliment Solomon Grundy #1
