Kick-Ass and Wanted writer Mark Millar is heading back to the Ultimates Universe, this time writing a book called Ultimate Avengers. There is little detail as to what the book will be about, but a strong guess is it will be Avengers related. Millar was quoted as saying that he was excited about returning to the line and already had ideas for characters like Ultimate Blade, or even Ultimate Tomb of Dracula. Stay tuned.
News out of the Diamond Distributors retail summit has some new stuff from Marvel headed your way. Brian Michael Bendis has announced that the aftermath of Secret Invasion will be a story arc called Dark Reign. This will also start off a new Avengers book called Dark Avengers.
According to Newsarama.com G.I. Joe #0 is due out next month. The book will actually feature three different stories that will lead to the launch of three separate titles coming in early 09. This series will be marked with the return of famous Joe scribe Larry Hama. Chuck Dixon and Christos Gage are also on board to write for the series.

There is a small rumor coming out of MTV that actor Will Smith has been offered the role of Captain America. This is hopefully just a rumor unless Smith will play the role of Isaiah Bradley the black Captain America.
Variety magazine is saying that Wolverine director Gavin Hood was almost fired from the set of the film and that Richard Donner flew to the Australian set to smooth things over. This rumor sounds vaguely familiar, wasn’t there a report that the director of Punisher was fired from the set a few weeks ago? I would suggest a little salt with this one.
Michael Caine has been quoted as saying that the next set of bad guys to appear in the Batman franchise will be The Riddler and The Penguin. The actors named to play them? None other than Johnny Depp and Phillip Seymour Hoffman respectively. Lets file that in the ‘believe it when I see it’ category.
To make this less likely Philip Seymour Hoffman officially denied the rumor.
It looks like the rumors of a Greatest American Hero movie may be true according to Sci Fi Wire. Series creator Stephen Cannell said that a screenplay has been written and a director has been attached. It was already reported that original cast members may make a cameo in the film.
