Marvel has locked in release dates for Iron Man 2 at on April 30, 2010; Thor on June 4, 2010; The First Avenger: Captain America (working title) on May 6, 2011; and The Avengers in July 2011. The Thor film is already in development with Matthew Vaughn tapped to direct. The script is by Mark Protosevich and will be based on the ‘Tales of Asgard’ back up stories from the Thor books.

There hasn’t been much news on the two Avengers movies although Jon Favreau have previously expressed interest in directing it. David Self is reportedly working on a Captain America script with Zak Penn handling The Avengers script.

There are also four new straight to DVD animated projects coming from Marvel.  Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow scheduled for 2008, Hulk Vs. scheduled for early 2009, Thor: Son of Asgard in late 2009, and Planet Hulk for early 2010.

With Marvel taking a more vested interest in the film projects things are looking up for the House of Idea’s
