Welcome back to The Book Report Podcast for episode #102! Apologies for the delay, but hopefully scheduling conflicts and internet malarkey have been resolved, and your hosts, Andy Hunsaker and Iann Robinson, should be back on a regular schedule for these suckers.
We've got a new theme song! Our friends, the band My Special Agent, have let us use their awesome song about the Hulk, entitled "Anger/Danger," as our opening number, which fits well not only with our subject matter, but how likely it is for either Iann or myself to find something infuriating to rant about. Thanks, MSA! Check out their stuff! You can also check out other comic-related music and suggest your own right here.
This week marks the beginning of the highly-controversial Before Watchmen prequel project, with Darwyn Cooke's Minutemen #1. We talk about that, as well as a bunch of movie news, like DC moving on a new Justice League film, Marvel announcing new directors for Captain America 2, details leaking about Iron Man 3 and the possibility of a Black Panther movie. We also pour a .40 out for the impending loss of one of the best animated series Marvel has ever produced with the non-renewal of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and we also pour some crap on Robert Kirkman's Playboy Magazine stunt with the origin of Michonne from The Walking Dead being folded into it. As for yays and nays, we take on Avengers vs. X-Men, Dial H, Earth 2, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Extermination, Detective Comics, Avengers Academy, Winter Soldier and the new Thunderbolts/Dark Avengers switcheroo, among many other topics – including Iann's penchant for hyperbole.
