If there is a writer more fitting than Brian Azzarello to tackle the introduction of DC's pulp-noir universe in First Wave, then he or she does not live on planet Earth. The Batman/Doc Savage Special is the prelude to Azzarello and Rags Morales' First Wave mini-series, with art by the wonderful Phil Noto, in which the two titular characters meet for the first time, similar to Jeph Loeb's Batman/The Spirit Special from a few years ago.
Judging by this preview, the special one-shot sets the tone for First Wave, a world in which heroes exist in shades of gray and Batman apparently dual wields. This is an exciting time for pulp comics fans, so be sure to jump on board where it all begins. The one-shot will be shipping with two covers, one by JG Jones and the variant by Rags Morales, both seen below.
