DC's Blackest Night is upon us, and the company is making sure to set the Internets aflame with its constant posting of teaser images that they are so notorious for. Other companies can spend what they will on new and different marketing strategies, but DC has got it down pat: a killer image is all a comic fan needs to get them interested. And with Blackest Night, they have delivered four thus far. It seems for the past two years, DC has been teasing us with who will or will not wind up being a Black Lantern. Well, to much fan outcry (and some protest, perhaps) we have the confirmed first four members of the new Corps. First up:
Kal-L, Earth-Two Superman

Though DC first notified readers of Kal-L's membership of the Black Lantern Corps through a DC Direct soliciation for the the Blackest Night toys, this recent advertisement obviously set it in stone. Killed back in Infinite Crisis, it looks like good ol' gray haired Kal-L will be taking one last spin around the DCU, wreaking havoc on the living and just plain being awesome. Having any incarnation of Superman on the side of the Black Lanterns is impressive, and hopefully it will contribute to the emotional core of the store. With characters like Power Girl, Superboy-Prime, and Superman himself deeply rooted in this character's past, it will be interesting to see how his resurrection as a member of the Black Lantern Corps serves the greater story of Blackest Night and the characters he was once fondly attached to.
