After the disasters of the Civil War, the Dark Reign and the whole mess with the Sentry, not to mention losing his ex-love the Scarlet Witch to madness, Simon Williams – aka Wonder Man – has decided that the Avengers are a concept doomed to massive catastrophe. He's so convinced of this that he's actually formed his own team of Revengers to prove to his old comrades-in-arms just how wrong they are to keep trying what has failed so painfully so many times.
