After the events of Astonishing X-Men #50, one wonders how we'll manage to get to a wedding in the very next issue. Kyle Jinadu actually rejected Jean-Paul Beaubier's proposal, believing it was for all the wrong reasons, and then he got kidnapped. Now, Northstar has to fight through a bunch of mind-controlled friends to rescue him. But writer Marjorie Liu will apparently pull it off, and Marvel will have their much-publicized landmark gay wedding next month.
Check out these preview pages from Astonishing X-Men #51, featuring a cover from Dustin Weaver, a variant cover from Marko Djurdjevic and a special "Create Your Own Wedding" variant cover from Phil Noto. Not to mention interior art from Mike Perkins showing us that Jean-Paul's erratic twin sister Jeanne-Marie, aka Aurora, will have something to say about the proceedings. Will she be supportive or flip out?
As we can see below, it looks like even Kyle's been mind-controlled… again. You may recall the events of the most recent Alpha Flight series being completely brainwashed by a supervillain who called himself the Master of the World. No wonder Kyle apparently puts a gun to his head rather than suffer through that again. Nothing like intense circumstances to solidify a relationship.
