Amazing Spider-Man #692: 50 Years of Spidey

An over-sized issue celebrating a half-century of wall-crawling gives Webhead his very own sidekick!

Amazing Spider-Man #692

We've reached the 50th year of having Spider-Man in the world. Don't believe me? Then check out The History of Spider-Man right here and refresh your memory!

Marvel will be celebrating that milestone in August with the release of the oversized Amazing Spider-Man #692 from the ace team of Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos who have made Spidey a must-read in the last several years. This time around, to mark the occasion, it seems as though they're actually giving Peter Parker his own sidekick. This ain't no Spider-Boy, though – looks like a kid named Alpha.

The best part of this anniversary issue? Yours truly is in it! Sort of. I'm viewing it as no coincidence that Friend of The Book Report Dan Slott (check out our extended interview with him on the 100th podcast!) dropped both halves of my name into this issue, which you can see below. Alpha's name is ANDY Maguire, and his jock nemesis is named Mark HUNSACKER – and even though there's no C in my name (Hun-SAY-ker, rhymes with 'baker' or 'maker' not 'backer' or 'macker,' you see), I've been called Hunsacker enough times in my life that I'm counting it! I AM IN SPIDER-MAN CANON NOW KIND OF. HUZZAH!
