Marvel NOW Updates – Uncanny X-Men & Journey Into Mystery

Here's a slew of new blurbs about Brian Michael Bendis' X-Men and Kathryn Immonen's Journey Into Mystery.

Uncanny X-Men

Brian Michael Bendis has taken over the X-books, and while All-New X-Men is bringing Cyclops' foibles into stark relief, the relaunch of Uncanny X-Men will have him leading his revolution anyway.

First, we've got the look at UXM #1 with artist Chris Bachalo, wherein one of the people on the cover is apparently a traitor. Take a look.

Then, when issue #5 rolls around, Cyclops is still going to have that silly X-face, but Frazer Irving is going to hop on board as the new ongoing artist.

Observe…

Uncanny X-Men #5

Here's the synopsis blurb: "Deep in the caverns of the old Weapon X facility, Cyclops is training the next great generation of Mutantkind in the Charles Xavier School for Mutants! With new mutants popping up all across the Marvel Universe, Cyclops and his team must race to recruit. But will there be anyone to turn him down?"

“Brian and Frazer are bringing you a whole new take on Mutantkind — and it will have major ramifications on the Marvel Universe," said Axel Alonso, Marvel's Editor In Chief.  "Whether you root for Cyclops, hate him, or a little bit of both, everything you thought about Mutants will be turned on its head."

Yeah, but he's got that stupid X on his face, and Bendis has shown he can't really write Emma Frost. Let's hope he can write everybody else.

Then there's some Asgardian business.

Journey Into Mystery

Kathryn Immonen's Journey Into Mystery puts Sif in the starring role, and things are going to get dark.

Here's the blurb: "The warrior Sif’s might rivals that of the Mighty Thor, but when the ravenous Fenris is awoken by one of her own, even she is outclassed! In order to save her home, she must band together with the Warriors Three and Thor to stop him – but when everything they need to stop the beast never existed – things go from bad to worse!"

“In one of their darkest moments, the mighty Sif shows just how dangerous she can be,” said Alonso.  "And when she has the aid of her brethren at her side, the true power of Asgard won’t ever be clearer!"

Sif is a movie star now, so it makes sense she leads a book, even if you wouldn't know it from the title. Can she reach Thor's level of popularity and status? That's up to all y'all.
