When it comes to Ed Brubaker we here at Crave Online officially have a man crush, his writing is great and only seems to get better as time goes by. That is most definitely the case for Captain America, easily one of the best comics of all time. Brubaker has taken the book to new heights and has truly done some inspired things with the characters.

This most recent issue follows the supporting cast of the book, namely Sharon Carter and The Falcon. Sharon is trying desperately to put her life back together after killing Steve Rogers and being held captive by the Red Skull. This is the part of the story that I’ve been waiting for, the resolution of her part in the death of Steve Rogers.

Sharon Carter is a central character in the Cap mythos and for a moment there I thought she was going to get swept under the rug so to speak, but I should have known better. Brubaker reminds us that she’s been through a lot while at the same time keeping the dialogue heavy story fresh and interesting. The most interesting aspect is I think we got a glimpse of a possible return for the Star Spangled Avenger. It’s too soon to tell, but something is definitely up.

The other part of the story actually intertwines with the first. The Captain America of the 1950’s is still on the loose and The Falcon is hot on his trail. They’ve done a lot of work on the Falcon but he’s still pretty lame, however that’s neither here nor there. He’s not having much luck walking around asking people if they’ve seen a guy who looks identical to Captain America, the funny thing is no one seems to recognize him which is odd considering he died only nine months ago in the comic.

The 1950’s Cap does make an appearance in the story in a great, “awwww snap!” moment, but to learn more about that you’ll have to read the comic yourself. The book is light on the action, but you won’t notice as a lot of plot development takes place that is important to the story overall.

I have a feeling that big changes are in store for Captain America and it’s cast of characters, with Dark Reign under way there is no telling what will happen next in the book. Make sure you pick up this current issue of Cap you will be pleasantly surprised.
