Invincible #60

The best crossover ever?

Invincible has been a book of great ideas from its onset. Always blazing new trails and doing things a little different than its predecessors, in the end that’s what we like about the book right? Well this current issue of Invincible takes the fun a step further by staging a major event that takes place entirely in one issue.

The story is fairly basic, even though it’s been brewing for some time now. If this is your first foray into the world of Invincible then I’m sorry that things happen so quickly with little explanation. No book is perfect and that is the only area where this book is lacking. Luckily, the book is so interesting that you won’t mind being a little lost.

The main villain in the story, a guy named Angstrom who was nearly beaten to death by Invincible some time back, he’s been plotting his revenge ever since and his plans are grand. He’s travelled through time and space to find a bunch of different versions of Invincible that are evil and had them attack earth, Marks earth to be exact.

The single issue covers the entire battle to save earth with just about everyone from the Image Universe serving as guest stars. The battle covers the globe and leaves everything leveled the world over. The destruction is beautifully captured and the aftermath isn’t some glazed over event that will be worked out in an issue or two.

The sheer scope of the issue is out of this world and a welcome addition to anyone’s collection. If you’re a fan of the Image Universe (even one from way back) then you will get a kick out of seeing some of your favorite characters fighting for their lives in an epic struggle. This is easily one of the most fun books I’ve read this year.
