300 Words: Invincible #55

The Viltrumite secret revealed.
One of the over arcing plot points of Invincible has been the eventual invasion of Earth. Long have I wondered exactly how and when they were going to address said situation. Then there’s the issue surrounding Marks Dad (Omni-Man) who is still a bad guy right? Well if this book has taught me anything it’s that there is more to every story.

Set primarily in space this issue of Invincible features everyone’s favorite alien Allen the Alien and Marks dad Nolan. The time has come for Nolan to be executed by his people for insubordination, but Allen has other plans. The action sequences during the escape are great, and the dialogue is as funny as you would expect from and Invincible comic. I’m not always a fan of ultra violence, but this book pulls it off well.

After making good their escape Allen learns an important secret about the Viltrumites, one that will probably have major repercussions for some time to come. Suffice to say that the Viltrumites may be interested in Mark for reason that you don’t really expect. This could also affect his younger brother Oliver who is having a hard time making the adjustment that Mark has made.

Let’s not forget that there was the cryptic comment made by Mr. Immortal about a possible plague that killed Mark and maybe the rest of the Viltrumites in the last issue, so who knows how this is going to go. Robert Kirkman is leading us on a fine journey with more twists and turns than I could ever ask for. As usual I don’t want to give too much away because you should read this book first hand; it’s a lot of fun. Make sure you go out and pick up this great book today.
