Mighty Avengers #18

The issue features a small one shot about Nick Fury and his Secret Warriors. Nick has been training his team for weeks (months maybe?) in preparation for the not so Secret Invasion. In this story Nick is putting that training to the test in a daring daylight attempt to kidnap the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Maria Hill. The Issue shows off a bit of what the team went through in order to earn Fury’s trust and it wasn’t pretty.

The New Avengers #45

Remember House of M? Well Brian Michael Bendis does. He took time to explain the scenario from the Skrull's perspective. A lot of it doesn’t make sense as the Skrull leader seems immune to the Scarlet Witch’s spell. The entire issue is completely nonsensical as if Bendis answered a question that I didn’t ask. Aren’t the Skrull's supposed to be perfect copies in both mind and body? Therefore believing themselves to be the people they are impersonating, including the Skrull Queen? Isn’t then unnecessary to go back to the House of M?

Avengers: The Initiative #17

It’s back to the here and now for the only Avengers book to deal with the Invasion as its happening. Ant-Man is the only man standing (sort of) after the Skrulls take Camp Hammond with the help of Skrull Hank Pym. Ant-Man finds the shadow Initiative (actually they find him) and the group puts together a last ditch effort to win the war. Crusader is still moping around hoping that no one finds out he is a Skrull. The Skrull Kill Krew is still on the scene and this time they have some new members. This book is funny and action packed, what more do you want?
