By now you should know that ‘Vector’ has now moved on to the next set of books in its year long storyline. That means that it’s time for Zayne and company to get back to their mission of revealing the truth about Jedi Covenant.

This is an interesting time in Star Wars because it takes place so far in the past of the Star Wars universe. One of the most common occurrences in this era is how many Jedi fall to the dark side in an attempt to defeat or understand it. That seems to be the case with the Jedi Covenant who are so determined to keep the Sith from returning that they have resorted to murder and conspiracy. From a readers perspective they bring a lot of depth to the story.

The other mystery is Zayne himself, who may or may not turn out to be a vicious Sith or worse based on a prophesy by one of the covenant seers. It’s important to point out that Yoda said that seeing the future was not a Jedi trait, and that seeing the future was more of a Sith practice. What does that say about the Jedi Covenant? That they are basically falling to the dark side in their efforts to see the future and fight the Sith.

My suspicions about the Covenant were strengthened when Lucien Draay was given a seat on the Jedi high council only so they could watch him more closely. The whole sequence bore a stark resemblance to when Anakin was given a seat on the council. Draay is a weird cross between Count Dooku and Anakin which helps him come across as a heavy well in the story.

In this issue Zayne and his crew make their way to Odryn, the homeworld of the Feeorins a race of massive blue warriors. Imagine a Twi’Lek that’s about the size of a Wookie and you’ll get the idea. It turns out that this planet is where the covenant keeps all of the artifacts that they find, both Sith and Jedi in nature some of the trinkets they come across are powerful enough to effect the planets weather patterns.

Zayne manages to sneak and catalog all of the information locked away there but is captured on his way out of the complex where all the artifacts are stored. Just as it seems as if Zayne might talk his way out of the mess he’s in the leader of the Feeorins shows up. The leader, or Exalted One turns out to be one of the Jedi from the covenant.

Things certainly aren’t looking up for our heroes so be sure to pick up issue 30 to see how Zayne and Gryph get out of the mess they’re in.
