Hell Seriously Hath No Fury!

So Dante is gone temporarily and he has given me the incredibly hard task of updating all of you on the incredibly amazing world of Countdown to Final Crisis. I use the word incredibly hard because Dante has reported on this comic from day one, he talked you guys through 52, and he has been here since this crazy little countdown started, and I just hope that I can do justice to the excitement he has for this book.

Last week he had mentioned that Holly Robinson, Harley Quinn, and Mary Marvel’s story had become a nice addition to the overall book even though issue 11 didn’t really deal with them a whole lot, well this week is a complete turnaround as the crap finally hits the proverbial fan and suddenly everyone winds up with powers. That’s right, the Greek Gods are passing out their power as if….there Gods. Mary Marvel is finally given back her power and her shiny white good girl costume because she had finally been absolved of her sins, and if that isn’t cool enough, suddenly the Gods go ahead and toss Harley Quinn, and Holly Robinson a bone giving them temporary powers, allowing all hell to break loose for these girls, and they can finally go after Granny. Of course at the end of this lovely pursuit the comic really picks up when Kyle Rainer, Donna Troy, and Ray Palmer all end up running into our girls finally brining a lot of our major players together.

Karate Kid is trying his damndest not to be absolved while trying to save his woman. When Red Robin finally shows up to the scene to try to save his ass, when he refuses however Jason decides he wants nothing to do with it and quickly peaces out. Probably the best part of this story though is the Pied Piper being seduced into playing a song that has never been heard before, a song that will supposedly lift him into God hood. I’m not sure what that means, but one thing is for certain, the Pied Piper is a lot more important than even I realized, in fact with the way it’s looking, he could be THE important player, of course I don’t know if we will get in answer to that for 9 more glorious weeks.

Finally, I feel it is worth noting that Trickster’s hand is gone, and oddly enough that left me feeling quite sad, I mean I don’t know why I felt that one little hand would bring back Trickster, but now that it is gone, it was like this massive symbolism of the fact that we lost a character for good, who was actually pretty cool. Overall I can’t believe that we are in to single digits from here on out, it is going to be crazy, and painful waiting week to week, but I think the end result will be worth the pay off.
