The return of the Blue and Gold!

Booster Gold #6

By Dante’ Maddox
I know this won’t be a very popular position to take but I really am a huge fan of Booster Gold and the Blue Beetle and always enjoyed when their adventures where chronicled.

Ted Kords death was a pivotal moment in comics and was treated very well at the time. Most people would have been a little ticked at the events that took place in issue six of the new Booster Gold book so let’s really explore them shall we.

Firstly I think it’s important to commend Geoff Johns on covering some of the little things in order for this story to go over smoothly. The one thing that has been set into motion is a very healthy mystery that at this point doesn’t have to necessarily correlate with anything going on with DC Comics currently. Sure it’s possible that what’s going on in this series could fall into pace with Countdown or a similar series, but because it doesn’t have to the possibilities are still endless.

In the last issue Geoff johns showed us how certain aspects of time travel worked, and how much Booster could actually affect the timeline. Those rules where immediately challenged and the results bring a great many things into question. It’s those raised questions that make this book so appealing, and with a new member on the team, the odds for the adventure expanding are going through the roof. Only six issues in and the ‘truths’ that have been established are already in question.

What is Rip Hunters link to all this and what does he know about Booster Gold’s lineage that drives his decision making. Booster’s personal desire to save the life of his best friend also created a major hurdle for him to have to overcome, and he’s done that, so what’s next? That’s what we’re all wondering, and why you might want to consider coming back next month as the writers take you all the way back to Zero Hour, see what I mean about current events not necessarily dictating what happens in this title?
