This has to be the most controversial comic I’ve ever read. It all started a couple issues back with the absolute slaughter of the president of the United States. See, told ya it was controversial. A guy by the name of John Horus, leader of a superhero group called the Seven Guns, just walks in the white house as he’s apparently done so many times before. Though, this time it wasn’t business as usual. He lets the public know what he’s done and that he acted alone, trying to get his team off the hook for his actions. He does say why he did it but I’ll let you read issue zero to find that out. This, of course causes a state and federal hunt for the team to begin. Yup, the entire team!
The government decides to focus their efforts on bringing in people who had nothing to do with the murder (intelligent as usual). Dominic Atlas Hyde, Zoe Jump, Angel One, Kathryn Artemis and an ex-member Tom Noir all being hunted down by the authorities. Dominic now acting leader, makes a public condemnation of Johns actions and repeats Johns point that they were not involved in anyway.
Unfortunately, the Seven Guns have other problems to deal with…themselves. After the team rescues Tom, he wants to leave thinking that he’ll be alright. After knocking some sense into him (literally), Tom reluctantly decides to rejoin the team. Now with Tom reactivated as a member, Dominic decides to help Tom reassemble himself by providing him with a new leg that he built. Tom still doesn’t believe that the authorities would harm them if they just gave up. Dominic of course, believes otherwise.
When the opportunity presents itself Tom suits up and leaves. Meanwhile, the military finds the correct hideout. Well, I guess they where bound to sooner or later. Tom takes the chance to test his theory. The team sees Tom just in time to see him blasted to atoms on sight. So much for that theory! Now the shoe’s on the other foot, Dominic goes ballistic. He vows to annihilate anyone that gets in their way in their pursuit to kill John Horus, the one who starting this whole mess. Check out Black Summer #4 to see what other strange twist this story will take.
