By Cap thirty we’re still being told that Cap is all the way dead. There are a lot of players moving across the board in this series but Ed Brubaker is more than up to the task of keeping everything in order. Whether or not this story has any direct relationship to the Skrull invasion hasn’t been divulged, but odds are good that there is a link somewhere. What we know is that Sharon Carter herself was the trigger woman that actually killed Cap (she was brainwashed at the time) and that she is still coming to terms with what she has done. Tony Stark appears in this issue as the director of SHIELD and is finally picking up clues as to the true threat behind Cap’s death, but he’s still really far behind in the game.

The Falcon is the guy most out of the loop as he doesn’t know the secret that Sharon Carter is keeping and that puts him in serious danger. The Black Widow runs across the Falcon in search of the Winter Soldier just in time for the story to come to a head. The best part of this issue is that Brubaker gives readers a real good sense of when the story is about to pick up and start moving. Like a true master of the craft, he keeps me on the edge of my seat all month, which is really impressive when the star of the book is totally f*cking dead.
