After a heated battle of the babes, writer/director Christopher McQuarrie has found a female lead for Tom Cruise in his Lee Child-adapted movie Reacher. As Hollywood Reporter told us, the casting battle came down to a no-holds-barred cage match between Alexa Davalos (Clash of the Titans), Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger) and Rosamund Pike (Clash of the Titans 2). While we couldn't get a live feed of that bout - stupid censors - Deadline now reports that Rosamund Pike won the title, thanks no doubt to the sword fighting prowess she demonstrated in Die Another Day.
Or, you know, the acting prowess she demonstrated in An Education or Pride & Prejudice. Either one. Rosamund Pike plays defense attorney Helen Rodin, who teams with Jack Reacher (Cruise) to prove the innocence of an accused serial sniper. You have the right to an attorney. A hot attorney.
Frankly, we're only keeping close tabs on Reacher because it's Oscar-winning The Usual Suspects writer Christopher McQuarrie's second film after the excellent The Way of the Gun in 2000 (loved that slow-speed car chase, Chris). Exciting stuff. And hey, we've got a crush on Rosamund Pike, too, who really is a star waiting to happen. She's been content with mostly supporting roles until now, except in B-Movies like Doom or The Surrogates, but she's ready to bust out in a big way, and we want to be there when she does.
Yeah... You heard us.
CRAVE Online will be back with more Reacher news if we can just... quite... reach it...
