On this week’s episode of Next Gen News, Erik, Joey and Mike discuss the recent statements by EA Games’ label president Frank Gibeau, who went on record saying publishers purposefully hold off introducing new IPs late in a console lifecycle because there is “no reward.”
Essentially, it’s safer for publishers to churn out tried-and-true sequels until new hardware comes to market so companies can wow audiences with fresh ideas. While Gibeau’s statements might be honest, they also make us super sad, so we discuss what this all means for consumers on this week’s program.
Oh, we also find time to make fun of Mike for attending a Papa Roach concert back in the day.
