Rumors are starting to fly around from industry professionals and analysts alike that Microsoft will reveal their next iteration of the Xbox sometime in April. Normally, we wouldn’t report on this scuttlebutt, simply because the “sources” are just people within the industry flapping their mouths. We know Microsoft is planning to announce a new console this year. That’s a given. So dropping the announcement between now and early June when E3 kicks off seems not only very likely, but flippin' obvious.
What maybe gives a little more weight to this story, and the reason why we’ve chosen to cover it, is a domain registration that happened yesterday for “XboxEvent.com.” The same event-planning company that handled Microsoft’s E3 2012 presser registered the domain (as sleuthed by NeoGAF), making it likely that this is legit. It’s worth pointing out that the domain registration doesn’t list a date for the event at all, so the aforementioned April rumor still needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
