This classic winter drink will keep you warm when the temperature plunges.

Imbibed as both an after-dinner drink and as a cure for the common cold for hundreds of years, the Hot Toddy is a relatively simple drink that counters the cold weather perfectly. The warmth of the drink helps to open your chest when congested; the honey is an expectorant which helps with your cough, and the liquor helps you relax and sleep.

How To Make A Hot Toddy

The basic recipe may only include three to four ingredients, but it’s a libation perfectly suited for the darker months of the year. Honey, lemon, and hot water are traditional remedies for a sore throat or cold, Add in the power of alcohol to kill bacteria and perhaps a touch of tea, and you have a cold killer in a glass.” 

Hot Toddy Ingredients

 

  • 1 ½ – 2 oz Whiskey
  • ½ oz honey
  • ½ oz lemon juice
  • Hot/boiling water

Hot Toddy Preparation

Pour the honey, lemon juice, whiskey and boiling water into a mug. Let the mixture stand for a few minutes to allow the flavors to mingle before gently stirring.
