When Don Coscarelli made the first Phantasm movie in 1979, he probably couldn’t have predicted that he was starting a horror franchise that would last almost 40 years. And he DEFINITELY couldn’t have predicted that he’d be doing an in-depth retrospective on the whole Phantasm series on The B-Movies Podcast, even though that’s exactly what happened.
This week we are exceptionally proud to present a very special bonus episode with Don Coscarelli and film critic William Bibbiani, exploring the dreams and realities of the whole Phantasm series, from its humble beginnings to its action-packed sequels, to the melancholy new Phantasm: Ravager and the unexpected 4K restoration of the original movie, spearheaded by Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams. It’s over an hour of stories and philosophical explorations with one of the most interesting directors in the horror genre, and we think you’re going to love it.
