In 1980, Stephen King’s novella, The Mist, brought readers into the small town of Bridgton, Maine just as it was threatened by otherworldly mist that hid monsters and other threats. In 2007, director Frank Darabont brought The Mist to the big screen as a feature film that was critically acclaimed. Now, Spike is attempting to bring the story to television with a brand new take on the tale and new characters as well.
Spike has released a new trailer for The Mist, which introduces some of the central characters and hints at the creatures who are invading our world. However, as in the original story, the real threat will turn out to be humanity itself as neighbors turn on each in their desperate bid to survive.
“Based on a story by Stephen King, Spike’s The Mist centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world and, in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down. The Mist stars Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Frances Conroy.”
The Mist will premiere on Thursday, June 22 on Spike.
