David Fincher's going back to badass lately, after a brief foray into Oscar fare like The Social Network and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. With the trailer for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo making the rounds online, he's already purchasing the rights to yet another thrilling crime novel, this time Panic Attack by Jason Starr. This would be the director's second attack of the panics, after his 2002 potboiler Panic Room starring Jodie Foster, Forest Whitaker and Kristen Stewart way back when she was known as "Who the hell is Kristen Stewart?"

Starr's novel tells the story of a psychiatrist who kills a burglar on his property, only to be villified by the media for using ten bullets to do it. Amidst the media frenzy, the burglar's crazed partner exacts his revenge. The Vulture reported on the story, but was unsure if Fincher would actually direct Panic Attack or just produce under his newly-formed company Panic Pictures.

Panic. Panic. PANIC-PANIC-PANIC-PANIC-PANIC-PANIC-PANIC-PANIC-PANIC-PANIC-PANIC. Yup. Say it enough times and it loses all meaning.

Crave Online will return with more Panic Attack news as soon as we stop breathing into this paper bag.
