CBC has previewed its programming schedule for 2011-2012 and has a handful of returning faves as well as several new shows on the line-up. “As we head into our 75th anniversary season, we’re in an exceptionally strong position, with record-breaking audiences for our great Canadian entertainment, sports, music and information programming,” Kirstine Stewart said in an official release. “Next season’s line-up reflects and realizes the promise CBC has made in its five-year strategy, Everyone, Every way: to help connect Canadians to their country, to their communities and to each other.”

Here are the top 10 CBC shows to watch for in the coming fall/winter season.


– "Republic of Doyle"

Debuting last year and starring Seán McGinley and Allan Hawco, this comedic drama kicks off its third season this fall.


– "Battle of the Blades"

The popular reality show that teams up former NHLers with professional figure skaters has seen past winners like Valeri Bure and Ekaterina Gordeeva as well as Craig Simpson and Jamie Salé.


– "The Nature of Things with Dr. David Suzuki"

Canadian icon David Suzuki is back to continue his stint hosting Canada’s longest-running documentary series.


– "Cover Me Canada"

This new elimination-style competition gives audiences the chance to rediscover some of the best Canadian music of all time.


– "Michael: Tuesdays & Thursdays"

Airing on Wednesday nights this fall, this new program is from actors/writers Bob Martin and Don McKellar.


– "Mr. D"

Don't forget to catch this network series debut for popular Canadian comic Gerry Dee.


– "Arctic Air"

An original new drama-adventure series, "Arctic Air" is following in the footsteps of other high-adventure (and chilly) shows like "Ice Pilots NWT."
