The first trailer for WWE 2K14 was shown last night on an episode of RAW and, weirdly, it spotlights a star who rarely features on WWE programming these days - The Rock.
The trailer features the typical array of hyperbolic statements we've come to expect from the sports-entertainment world, along with a few snippets of gameplay, including a clip of the walking bicep Ryback employing his 'Shell Shock' finisher to two superstars simultaneously, and Shawn "HBK" Michaels throwing "Macho Man" Randy Savage into the air before hitting him with the Sweet Chin Music.
The trailer encourages the player to "BECOME A LEGEND" and "BECOME IMMORTAL," so does this mean that we could be seeing the return of the career mode of old, wherein players create their own wrestler before fighting their way to the top of the company? Personally, I'm hoping for a single-player mode similar to that of WWE '13's excellent Attitude Era mode, perhaps incorporating the 'Invasion' storyline of 2001, wherein WCW and ECW wrestlers "invaded" the then-WWF.
Developers 2K Games, who now have the licensing rights to WWE following the bankruptcy of THQ, have also revealed the roster (so far) for the upcoming game.
The roster is as follows:
-”Macho Man” Randy Savage
-Stone Cold Steve Austin
