Dark Horse Books
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 #22: Swell

Dark Horse.com says: Vampires are the hottest thing around -- forget hipsters; being a bloodsucking fiend is where’s it’s at! Slayers must take the good fight underground if they’re to avoid any bad press from the general public.

When Kennedy is sent to Japan to evaluate Satsu’s efforts as team leader, they are taken by surprise by some fierce furry creatures who want to do nothing more than destroy Buffy (surprise!), while Twilight remains the captain of the anti-Slayer ship.

Steven S. DeKnight (Angel, Smallville, Dollhouse) teams with series artist Georges Jeanty in “Swell.”

We say: Buffy is one of the hottest tickets around comic book wise.
Hellboy: The Wild Hunt #3

Dark Horse.com says:  Hellboy sets out across the bleak hills of Ireland to find out what the recent omens he's experienced have been referring to -- while the newly resurrected Queen of Blood rises to take control of the witches of England, torturing the ones who betrayed her, and preparing the rest for an even more bloody campaign against the race of man.

We say: This is an excellent follow up to Darkness Calls.

Dark Horse.com says: With the help of the Lobster's last surviving ally, the B.P.R.D. has tracked Memnan Saa to the mountain refuge where he is holding Liz. But even the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense is unprepared for the apocalyptic battle ahead.

Conan the Cimmerian #8

Timothy Truman adapts Robert E. Howard's powerful "Black Colossus" short story and sets Conan off on what will be his bloodiest battle yet, when the mercenaries of Amalric clash with the demonic hordes of Natohk! Conan, once a thief, tries his luck as a professional soldier, joining Amalric's forces and facing condescending jabs from the noblemen in his company, who mistakenly think that the Cimmerian is an unskilled simpleton. Tomás Giorello takes on full penciling duties once again, and Joseph Michael Linsner (Dawn, Dark Ivory) returns as cover artist for this exciting arc!

We say: This is a perfect jumping on point for new readers.
Fear Agent #26

Dark Horse.com says: Heath Huston, a mysterious otherworldly stranger, comes to the rescue of a frontier town that is somehow a step out of time. The peaceful, small mining community is under threat of annihilation when a ruthless land baron arrives with his posse of hired guns to take control of the territory. After the struggle for a peaceable resolution, and the gunfighting . . . it all ends in a down-in-the-mud, cheap-and-bloody fistfight to the death.

We say: Sounds pretty epic, and this book has never let us down before.
 Rex Mundi #16

Dark Horse.com says: Julien is dying, his body horribly savaged by Lorraine's torturers. His only hope now is Genevieve, but the Castle of the Holy Grail is crawling with the Duke of Lorraine's dreaded Imperial Guard -- not to mention the duke himself.

Fortunately for Genevieve and Julien, Lorraine has other things on his mind -- namely his daughter, Isabelle! Isabelle is drunk with power -- literally -- and she's hell bent on killing her father. Only one of them is going to survive the epic confrontation.

Meanwhile, sniveling Baron Robert Teniers has made his move. He's ready for the deepest mysteries of the Holy Grail, but he should be careful what he wishes for . . .

A sorcerous duel, a grisly ritual, and plenty of bodies pile up in Rex Mundi #16, "First Communion." Heads will roll!

We say: Confused? Good, now get caught up starting with this stellar issue.
Solomon Kane #5

Dark Horse.com says: The Castle of the Devil hides several secrets-the most horrible of which may still be locked at the base of the castle in the ruins of an ancient abbey. Solomon Kane gets closer to unveiling the truth behind the crazed monks who used to live there, as he deals with the castle's current batch of strange inhabitants. Escaping with John Silent, his wounded companion, is out of the question, because Kane also seeks justice for the souls of innocent children who were killed on the gallows that litter this evil, tainted region of Germany's Black Forest.

We say: This is the final issue in the series, so be sure to complete your collection.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic #38

Dark Horse.com says: Zayne Carrick and his crewmates Jarael, Slyssk, and the Mandalorian Rohlan investigate a pleasure cruise gone wrong!

Something horrible has happened aboard the Chancellor Fillorean; the former luxury ship now drifts aimlessly in a space nebula. Upon boarding the ghost ship, a host of asphyxiated passengers and two lone survivors -- a tiny alien and his fierce droid bodyguard -- are all that are found. Zayne and his friends must solve the mystery and find what has been causing the tragic and disturbing deaths -- before they also become victims.

We say: This series had hit a bit of a lull, but is back on track now.
Star Wars: Legacy #33

Dark Horse.com says: With the objective of exterminating the entire Mon Calamari species, the Sith have created a semisentient bioweapon, a creature that can kill selectively.

This Sith leviathan has already been unleashed on one underwater Mon Cal refugee camp, and it now swims the waters of Dac searching for more victims. The Mon Cal Rangers, with the help of Imperial Knight Treis Sinde, must find a way to destroy the leviathan before it clears the remaining Mon Calamarians from the galaxy forever!

We say: The exciting conclusion to Fight Another Day.
The Umbrella Academy: Dallas #4

Dark Horse.com says: Number Five and The Rumor have accepted a terrible mission, and after enduring torture and a brush with nuclear Armageddon, the rest of the surviving Umbrella Academy have to put aside their infighting to try to find their brother and sister, racing through history to do so.

We say: One of the best team books out right now, you have got to start following these guys.
