While at Comic Con in San Diego, California we got to take a look at one of the full size props from Watchmen, Nite Owl's ship. We also got pictures of two new posters from the film featuring Ozymandias (Matthew Goode) and the Silk Spectre (Malin Åkerman) and we even got a few questions about the film answered by the director, Zack Snyder.

Zach Snyder on the ending of Watchmen:

without being too spoilerish... a certain character… makes a moral choice that is what we would consider, what an audience would consider, questionable. But I think on paper, you could make an argument for it.

On telling the studio that he planned to keep the original ending of the comic:

You tell the studio that this guy, this character who kills millions of people, he’s going to be ok at the end. That’s tough. It’s not like Lex Luthor ends on an island. I’m saying this guy [is] right. I think that that’s the movie.

On the success of The Dark Knight opening doors for more dramatic superhero films:

"Sure. It’s an amazing movie. It’s not just a superhero movie, it’s a good movie. The difference is, in the first Batman movie, people always say, that’s a dark movie. Yeah it’s dark but the Batman gets to go to the Himalayas to train with ninjas to become a super fighter, that’s not dark, that’s cool. In Watchmen, there is nothing like that. Nite Owl can’t get an erection, that’s a different kind of dark."

On the Watchmen video game:

First of all, the first thing I said is that it can't have anything to do with the books. We got one version of it and then, Peter and I (my buddy), we ended up going, let us write it. What they were doing was a little bit crazy, I thought it was crazy and I couldn't stop it so I said let us do it.”

On the length of the film:

There was a discussion about cutting the movie in half because it was so long, but there is no ending in the middle, unfortunately.”

On trimming the source material down for the film:

Yeah, it was [difficult]. You separate the Black Freighter” from it, because the Black Freighter now exists on its own. You really start to see that a lot of the movie is there.”
