Star Wars Legacy #28
Vector marches on.

Celeste Morne is now in the Legacy universe. So far Vector has been a really fun read and this issue is no different. Cade Skywalker is fast becoming one of my favorite Star Wars characters and issues like this are part of the reason why. John Ostrander uses Cade to really explore the nature of the force and gives geeks like me plenty to talk about.

Cade, right now, is neither dark nor light. He’s at a crossroads in the force where things could go either way. It’s very enjoyable being able to travel this hard road with him and his faithful crew. In this issue the crew in question is still coming to terms with Cades choice to assassinate Darth Krayt, the leader of the Sith. It’s a dangerous mission that stinks of risk, and the Jedi and Imperial Knights on board the Mynock are all dealing with the uncertainty they face.

That’s when Cade finally hits Vector head on when he meets Celeste Morne for the first time. Celeste, for her part, has been biding her time waiting for some way to deal with the ancient Sith that she has been trapped with for over four thousand years. Karness Muur, the creator of the Muur Talisman has been trying to take control of Celeste in both mind and body for all this time and its everything Celeste can do just to keep her sanity.

After finding themselves aboard her ship, Cade and his friend Azlyn Rae are infected with the Rakghoul plague (the power of the Muur Talisman) and start to turn into the mindless creatures. Cade is forced to use his healing powers to cleanse he and Rae of the deadly disease. This impresses Celeste and gives her hope for ridding herself of the Muur Talisman. She then decides to join the crew of the Mynock in their quest to assassinate the dark lord of the Sith.

I can’t help but wonder what will become of Celeste Morne, she’s been through a lot as a character and she works as a hook to keep me reading (as if I needed one). If you’re not reading Vector and are a Star Wars fan then there is something wrong with you, make sure you pick up Vector when it comes out in collected format, it will be worth it.
