Hello comic readers and welcome back to the Book Report. There have been a few major shaeups in the world of comics so let’s get right to the notes.
According to The Hollywood News, writer Max Allan Collins will direct the sequel to Road to Perdition. The film is based on a prose called Road to Purgatory and was written by Collins himself. No word yet on a cast or if Tom Hanks will be back for this movie.

Rob Liefeld is back again with a new book series called Armageddon Now: World War III. The book is supposedly based on various prophesies that have come true in the story. The story picks up after a nuke has hit Los Angeles and New York has suffered a gas attack. Interesting stuff.

The drama surrounding Iron Man 2 continues to unfold as the reasons for the film ditching Terrance Howard continue to come out. According to Entertainment Weekly Howard was the first actor hired and therefore the highest paid. It was too late to renegotiate his contract by the time the film came together. They also reported that Jon Favreau was not pleased with Howards performance and had to reshoot and cut a lot of his scenes.

Writers Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander, two major architects for the series, have been let go from the show Heroes. According to Variety the two writers were let go because of the NBC execs continued frustration with the direction of the show.

Hulk: Gamma Corps the animated series has been cancelled in favor of an Avengers cartoon. The Hulk series won’t go away completely, it’s just going to be wrapped into the overall Avengers story instead. The last Avengers cartoon was lame, so let’s cross our fingers.

It looks like Dean Koontz is getting into the comic biz thanks to Dabel Brothers Publishing picking up his new title Nevermore. The book will be written by Keith Champagne and drawn by Andy Smith. The book will be published in five comic book issues between February and June 2009. The series will also be released in graphic novel format.

It looks like three Batman related titles will be coming to an end. DC has plans to cancel Nightwing, Robin, and the femme fatale book Birds Of Prey by February of next year. No word yet on whether or not this is a money issue or if there are plans for some sort of reboot.
