Welcome back to the Book Report where we have the latest in comic book news and notes. This week we'll catch you up on the Eisner Awards and a few items from Dark Horse comics. Enjoy.


The fifty first issue of Invincible has sold out. The book offered a new jumping on point and books flew off of the shelves. Image is printing a second edition that will feature an alternate cover, make sure you pick up a copy.


Dark Horse Comics cleaned house at the recent Eisner awards with 6 awards. Here’s a  list of some of the winners of the 2008 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards:

Scribe Fabien Nicieza will be taking over the writing duties for DC Comics’ Robin starting with issue #175, a two part arc that ties in to Batman R.I.P. this is according to Newsarama.com.


According to Sony Pictures Ed Brubaker has been tapped to write a new web series called Angel of Death. The show is about a remorseless assassin played by Zoe Bell (Death Proof) who is in the employ of a ruthless crime family. After receiving a severe head injury she becomes so haunted by her victims that she hunts down those who ordered the hits one by one. The show should air in 2009 and run over a 10 week period.


Mike Mignola and Joshua Dysart will be working together again on B.P.R.D. 1947 the follow up to the critically acclaimed B.P.R.D. 1946 which explored the early years of the B.P.R.D. and its leader Trevor Bruttenhom the guardian of the infant Hellboy, the book should arrive on shelves in June of 2009.


Fans of the Martha Washington series of books have a reason to smile as the heroine’s exploits will be collected in a new oversized hardcover volume entitled The Life and Times of Martha Washington. The book will be over 600 pages and cover the complete life of this iconic character. The book will see shops by summer of 2009.
