So I was checking the sales figures for July and much to my surprise there were several books out of the top 50 that certainly deserve more attention. Comics are a wonderful medium and there are tons of books out there. However there are a few books that I think would appeal to any comic collector. These books are genre defining and flat out brilliant at times. Check them out.

#5 Secret Six

Gail Simone tells a mean comic book story. If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out her work then I would look no further than Secret Six. The book has some of the best character development in any comic on the market. The book is funny, action packed and tragic all at the same time. What’s most impressive is the cast of characters that Simone has at her disposal. The assumption is that none of these characters could carry a book on their (a point I would argue) own but together they are pure magic. This is probably the best team book in comics right now.
