4. Batman: Streets of Gotham #1 Cover by Dustin Nguyen
Some of you may be thinking, "how many times can we get off seeing Batman perched on a ledge with the wind blowing his cape mysteriously?" And my answer would likely be, "infinite". Batman perched on a ledge with the batsignal in the background is iconic for a reason. Those of us that aren't the most skilled of artists have almost certainly attempted to draw an image like this at least once; whether we succeed or not is irrelevent. Dustin Nguyen has succeeded to the fullest, and it was this cover that finally convinced me to give the book a whirl.
I'm an enormous fan of Dini and Nguyen's previous work on Detective Comics, but any time the price rises in a comic book, I'm wary. It may only be a dollar, but with the amount of books many of us buy each week, it can certainly add up. However, once I saw this book sitting on the shelves, the great watercolor-like coloring staring me in the face, it was too hard to resist. I snatched it up, and thankfully what I found inside was most certainly worth spending an extra dollar on.
