3. Batman & Robin #1 Cover by Frank Quitely

Though fan favorite collaborators Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely had already completely sold me (and likely, everyone) on this new series, seeing Quitely's cover work for this issue certainly amped up the excitement. In his familiar and meticulously detailed way, Quitely successfully showed a noticably new and different Dynamic Duo. As great as the previous two covers were, there is really nothing that differentiates the Batman in those images between Dick and Bruce. Here, Quitely is able to give a considerably different vibe for both Batman and Robin (now Damian, instead of Tim Drake), and effectively piques the interest of those who may have not paid the utmost attention previously.
Certainly, his radical choice of color scheme is helpful: Morrison has said in interviews that Batman & Robin is like 60's television show meets a David Lynch film, and it has certainly lived up to that description thus far. Before this issue, when was the last time we ever saw a cover of an issue of Batman that was anything brighter than navy blue? If yellow doesn't scream out "pick me up, I'm different!", then I'm not sure what would.
