The Clone Saga gets revisited.

According to Newsarama and Marvel.com it looks like Howard Mackie and the creative staff that brought you the controversial Clone Saga will be back in the saddle. The Clone Saga redo is technically out of continuity and will reportedly tell the story how it was meant to be told, sounds interesting to say the least.

In continuity, the Spider-Man books may be visited by the villain from the Clone Saga Kaine. Where the deformed clone of Peter Parker has been for all these years is anyone’s guess, but it looks like Marc Guggenheim has a few ideas as he’ll be penning the story in October.

For those of you new to the Spider-Man Universe the Clone Saga did two major things in its run. The story took Peter Parker out of the webs and replaced him with a clone named Ben Reilly. The clone was a part of a relaunch of the core Spider-Man books (back when Spidey had more than one title) and he wore a modified Spider-Man costume that was later made famous by Spider-Girl.

The second major accomplishment was the return of Norman Osborn from the dead. Howard Mackie told an interesting story in the sense that he made Norman out to be the big bad that he is today, it could be said that without Mackie’s efforts Dark Reign would not have worked out the way it did, for better or for worse.

The Clone Saga will be revisited over the course of the next few months and look for Kaine to possibly make an appearance in ASM sometime around issue #608.
